A mid-century motor lodge reborn as a design hotel — café, fire pit, and walkable to the gondola.
The Coachman took a vintage Tahoe motor lodge on Pine Boulevard and rebuilt it into the south shore's design-forward stay: clean rooms, a lobby café pouring craft beer and wine, spa and wellness facilities, and a fire pit where the s'mores get made after dark. It sits in the walkable wedge near Heavenly Village, so guests reach the gondola, restaurants, and the state line on foot.
For wedding planning, the Coachman covers the guests who'd pick a boutique hotel over a resort every time — the design-blog cohort, the no-kids couples, the friends who want to be near the nightlife. The hotel hosts group bookings and events, and its size keeps a block here feeling like a takeover rather than a corridor assignment.
