the short version What sets it apart

Donner Summit's 1939 ski resort — meadow and alpine-lake ceremonies at elevation, with the historic Village Lodge for the party.

  • The full arc on one mountain: rehearsal at The Yarrow, vows in Royal Gorge Meadows or at Lake Mary, cocktails on Mt. Disney.
  • Sugar Bowl's 1939 pedigree — Sierra ski history is the venue's texture.
  • On-site lodging keeps the wedding party on the summit.
  • A working independent resort, not a corporate events machine.

Sugar Bowl has run its corner of Donner Summit since 1939 — the Sierra's grande dame of independent ski resorts — and its wedding program uses the mountain the way locals do: ceremonies out in Royal Gorge Meadows or beside the alpine water of Lake Mary, cocktail hours up on Mt. Disney, receptions and lodging in the Village Lodge, and rehearsal dinners at The Yarrow, the resort's restaurant.

The resort pitches "a full wedding experience among the peaks" and means the logistics literally: everything happens above 7,000 feet within the resort's own footprint, guests sleep on site, and the summit light does the decorating. Capacities and rates are quoted through the weddings office rather than published.
